Book Page Wreath

Taking inspiration from Robin's Happy at Home blog HERE ,
I started with Mod Podge and covered my wreath form with book pages.

I purchased a 4" x 6 3/4" paperback from a dollar store.
Removed the cover and tore the pages in half.
Then started gluing....
I crumpled each half page to give it more texture before positioning it over
the end of a sharpee marker.  (I found a pencil to be to small to work with.)
Added a dab of glue and stuck it onto the wreath form.

Loving how it turned out!!

Caramel Pumpkin Pie Ala Mode Parfait

It's that time of year again...

It's aaaall about the Pumpkin !

I'm addicted to this simple
and easy to assemble ice cream dessert.

 3 Basic Ingredients.
Just layer in a glass,
as much or as little of each as you desire.

1- Ice Cream--vanilla or whatever you feel
                                      would go with pumpkin.
                                      Tonight it's Caramel Pecan.
2-Caramel or Salted Caramel--ice cream topping
or the kind in the tub for dipping apples.
3-Canned Pumpkin--just spoon in right from the can
                                  I use the plain pumpkin
because I like to control the amount
of spice by sprinkling on my own
                                 powdered Pumpkin Pie Spice.
But you could use the pie filling kind, it
would just have more spices already added.

Can you see that pumpkin pie spice sprinkled in there? mmmm!

The finishing touch?   a Pizzelle

Those pretty, thin, lacy Italian cookies
cooked on a pizzelle iron.

Tastes like a waffle cone and
is the perfect compliment to our sundae.

I buy them boxed.

I've never tried making them myself
but I imagine they are amazing fresh and warm
straight off the iron.

I found a recipe at  cookdiary.net

Enjoy!

Betty

Happy Fall Y'All

Mmm, Fall,
my most Favorite time of year!!!

Love the crisp mornings
and the cooler daytime temps.

Time to add some of those
rich golden harvest colors to my
home decor.

I can't wait for the leaves
 to turn colors.

I love to hear the rustle and
crunch when I walk in the fallen leaves.

And I love how they smell;
so earthy and fresh.

Have you visited an apple or pumpkin farm yet???

I'm looking forward to taking a trip there
in the next upcoming weekends.

I've yet to get my usual pumpkins,

corn stalks and big straw bale to
decorate the entry and front yard.
Then I'll get my scarecrows out of storage
and string up some orange lights.

Oooo, apple cider donuts!

and who knew Casey's has the absolute
best pumpkin donuts with cream cheese icing!

Next weekend is the annual

Autumn on Parade in Oregon Illinois
I'll be there shopping the 200 or so crafters' booths
and of course Sunday is Parade Day.
We always look forward to the Jesse White
Tumblers and the South Shore Drill Team performers.

But we have to get there before the

Oregon Methodist Church Ladies run out of their
famous Apple Fritters, YUM!

After strolling through hundreds of

crafters' booths on a sunny but cool fall day ..
Sitting back along the parade route, amidst the sights, sounds and smells...food vendors with their kettle corn, pizza, nachos,
brats, tacos, pork chop sandwiches and more...

the parade going by... marching bands, shouts and cheers, sirens...

Munchin' on Piping hot fritters rolled in powdered sugar

all sticky and gooey and finger lickin' good,

...Oh, ya!!!!  I'll be there!

My DR Thanksgiving Tablescape and Thanksgiving Tree

Thank you so much for coming to visit today.
Won't you please come in...
Let's sit at the table and have tea.

The table runner and placemats
give the room such warmth with the
rich colors of Autumn.

My Thanksgiving Tablescape is
still a work in progress.

After searching for quite some time
I was able to purchase a
turkey tureen last year just before Thanksgiving
complete with ladle
and I LOVE him!

I'd been wanting one with lots of color
without the expense of a Fitz &Floyd.
I am very pleased with my Jay's Imports finds.

You see, I already had a pair of S&P
of the same mold so I was
ecstatic to find the tureen.

This year just by happenstance
I found the gravy boat. (sorry no picture)
My collection is coming together nicely.

For many years I've scooped up
the old Morton turkey planters
whenever I saw one thinking I'd
accumulate enough to have one for each place setting
just to hold a napkin or nut cup or something.

I have a set of 4 MarutaWare
cups and saucers.

So my search is on for dinnerplates
to complete the place settings.

I'm on the lookout for pretty floral
brown transfer ware dinner plates
which prove to be a bit difficult to find.

Since I already had several Blue Willow dinner plates
I placed them under the cup and saucer.
I like how it
brings out the blue clouds
in the MarutaWare pattern.
A compliment and a contrast to allot of brown.

I also have a blue Thanksgiving themed
Johnson Bros. plate
so I added it to the center of the table
on a plate stand.

The scene includes a horse drawn wagon,
 a turkey and
a border design of oak leaves and acorns.

My wooden pedestal bowl
is full to overflowing with
pumpkins, gourds,
berries and fall-colored leaves
 on top of grapevines.

I was able to purchase a 6ft lighted
Christmas tree for $5.00 at a Walgreens
after Christmas sale
which they'd used for display purposes.

I made this my Dining Room Thanksgiving Tree.
It's placed beside the grandfather clock
next to our open stairway.

I've trimmed it with giant pinecones, pumpkins,
acorns, silk sunflowers & chrysanthemums,
fall leaves, wheat, and used a
bittersweet vine & rust-colored burlap bow
as a tree topper.
Then wrapped a length of natural burlap
around the bottom for a tree skirt.

A Very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to All,

Warm Hugs,
BettyJean

Fall Decorated Tree

Here's a quick post
to show my office tree
decorated for fall.

"Minimalistic "
with just a wide (5 inch?) burlap ribbon.
and several  (6?) garlands of silk leaves
each one measuring 5 foot in length.

 With a few sparcely placed
scarecrow ornaments I picked up
at a dollar store.

And to top it all off
a loopy bow made from a
leaf-patterned wired ribbon.

I looove the simplicity of it,

and how the colors of the natural burlap
and the leaves
in shades of orange & red
stand out against the white tree!

Happy Fall Y' All !
