A Mother's Special Valentine Keepsake

I'm so glad you could join me today for another Tea Party.
I've brought something to share with you
that's very special to me.

It is something that my daughter and I
made together when
she was preschool age.

I first saw this verse on a pillow
as I was thumbing through a mail order catalog.
A Mother holds her child
in her Hands for a little while...
... in her Heart forever.

I loved it so much I decided to use it
with my Sunday School class of four year olds.

I changed the verse slightly to fit the paper better,
but I now feel this was a mistake.
I like the original verse better.
(I didn't have a computer with different fonts back then
so I just wrote it out by hand and photocopied it).

I brushed a light coat of craft paint
on the palm of her hand and
pressed  down on the paper
with the thumb spread away from the fingers,
I gave each of her fingers an extra little nudge at the knuckle for good coverage.

In the space between the thumb and fingers
I drew a heart with white glue.
Then she lined up dried rose buds
along the line of glue.

Just let dry, matte and frame!
Thanks for coming,

My Valentine  "To Have and To Hold LOVE STORY Linky Party Marathon"
is coming right up so be sure to stop back.

  6. Hi Betty,

What a special craft keepsake! So beautiful - I still have crafts from my son when he was little - now he's a teenager and not so little anymore, but I still enjoy having such keepsakes and look back at those memories. :) Wishing you a most lovely Pink Saturday!

    Hugs,
    Jessie

  7. Hi Betty, stopping by from LV's place who suggested a visit.
Love this precious framed memory. So meaningful and treasured. Glad you're sharing with us.
Also love your vintage Valentine goodies in the next post.
So sorry about Millie. She's so precious. Love, love, love is the best you could give her. Our golden girl, Honey, was also born in 2000, but is now gone to doggie heaven due to a tumor. We miss her every single day and my advice to everyone with furry friends is to love them as unconditionally as they love us.
    Thank you for sharing.
    HPS!
